You may have read the story that launched a thousand blogs last week, or Bruce Boudreau benching Alex Ovechkin in the final minutes of a 5-4 OT win against the Anaheim Ducks. Tomas Vokoun shutout his former team Tuesday night, and the Capitals opened the season with 5 straight wins for the first time in franchise history. The Caps 3-0 win came on a power-play goal from Marcus Johansson, a laser-guided wrister from Alex Semin, and a long-distance, empty net tally from current (and very surprising) goal leader Jason Chimera.
Congrats to the boys in Red on this remarkable accomplishment, and hopefully it is foreshadowing for another franchise first.

Marcus Johansson was the first overall pick for the Capitals in the 2009 draft, and played as a first-year rookie in 2010. Johansson appeared in 69 games last season, tallying 13 goals, 14 assists for 27 points. He looked very impressive at times, and like a rookie at others, but the overall consensus was that 2011-2012 could be exciting for MoJo.
