I think I saw Tandler say that media would not be allowed to watch until Sunday. Is that correct?

@BurgundyBlog
@john_keim just taught me that the #Redskins made more picks in the last two drafts (21) than any other NFL team. This is a paradigm shift.

I agree. Now as long as 2012 is farther along the line toward the upper right portion of this graph than it was last season...

This is amazing to me. From one of the teams with the fewest draft picks over the past decade to a team with the MOST over the past two years, and that's with trading away (by my count) 5-6 draft picks. Unbelievable! So stoked for the future of this franchise.

According to ESPN 980 they 're in the bubble 'cause of rain.
"live as we speak"

Doc is impressed with quickness and arm strength.

As an alumn, Doc is allowed in, media in general not allowed.

Likened Griff's standing out in the crowd much like an Adrian Peterson would, Kirk not so much.

Doc was impressed by the way they were organized, came out after meetings and practiced like they knew what they were doing.

He likes to focus on the big guys, saw some quick feet but will make judgements after the pads are on.

I am seeing reports that the Skins have already waived UDFA RB Michael Shaw out of Michigan.

Practice Notes: Day 1 Rookie Mini-Camp
By Brian Tinsman

The Redskins kicked off the 2012 rookie mini-camp this morning with 62 rookies and first year players out on the practice fields at Redskins Park.

The breakdown of the roster was five first year players, nine drafted rookies, 12 undrafted college free agents, and 36 tryouts.

Players and coaches took the field around 10 a.m. for warm-up, gradually moving into team stretches. Aside from 2011 practice squad players and 2012 draft picks, there were a lot unfamiliar faces on the field.

Practice followed the regular season schedule. After a lengthy stretching session, the team broke up into positional groups and retreated to their customary positions on the fields.

In addition to the new faces in uniform, this was also the first opportunity to see coaches Raheem Morris, Ike Hilliard and Bob Slowik in their new roles.

Morris joined the team this offseason after three seasons as the head coach in Tampa Bay. He could be seen guiding defensive backs around the field, pointing out responsibilities and demonstrating form.

Hilliard joined the staff this offseason after a season with the Miami Dolphins. He introduced new drills to the receiver workouts, emphasizing routes, cuts and repetitions with his large group.

Slowik was on the staff in 2011, but will be working with the linebackers this year on defense. During the open part of practice, he worked primarily on coverage drills with the linebackers.

When a light rain started around 11:20 a.m., the team retreated to the indoor practice facility for the first rookie practice on turf. Practice ended at noon.

Not surprisingly, the players that spent 2011 on the Redskins practice squad looked very comfortable in the positional drills, due to relative familiarity.

Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III worked specifically with offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan, who ran drills that emphasized mobility and throwing fundamentals. He was joined on the field by first year quarterback Jonathan Crompton and fellow rookie Kirk Cousins.

Practice resumes tomorrow morning and will be closed to the media until Sunday.

Some sweet video footage of RG3 drilling at camp today, with commentary from Doc Walker and Joe Theismann.

Watch at about the 3:00 mark for how quick he gets the ball from chest to gone.

Damn.

Larry, you are such a ****ing tease.

Twice RG3 leads the offense to the line of scrimmage. The first time, as he steps behind center, Larry pans the camera away to show us the camera crane/riser. He swings back as RG3 walks up behind center again....and ends the vid.

Had to be on purpose, right?

Too funny.

Shaw must have been really impressive

I really like the Minnifield signing. It appears as if the club may have to stash him for a year to fully rehab from the ligament tear, but the draftniks had him rated as a late second or third round pick if healthy.

I guess, barring an injury to RG3 or Cousins, Compton has zero shot of making this team.
