So why then, does he think that penalizing the rich job creators, thereby giving them less money for their efforts, is good for job creation? It's the dumbest logic I've ever heard anyone use. How does the middle class benefit from the rich being taxed so heavily? It's not like they plan on issuing checks from the taxes taken in from these increases, and giving them to the poor.
This kind of profoundly stupid logic is equivalent to sending a fire department to a fire with a truck full of gasoline, with the logic that since it's wet, eventually the fire will go out if you douse it hard enough.

Well, I'm glad we can have an unbiased discussion on this board.

I have yet to hear a cogent argument on WHY the economy is improving...beyond definitional trickery, of course.
cant' wait for those massive tax increases CY 13!!!
but..I suppose labeling something as Obama bashing substitutes for economic argument in some quarters.

I wasn't linking to Twitter, I was linking to a statement from Morgan Housel, who works for The Motley Fool. Twitter is only the avenue he used to make the statement. And Twitter is the most prevalent and timely news outlet there is today, just FYI.

Lanky, it isn't about being partisan, you're just trying to make it that way. The current topic is a bad economy and rising unemployment. Not sure what that has to do with Bush. Obama is in office now, let it go. It's been 4 years. You gave him credit when it was going down, give him credit when it goes up.

Its essentially an RSS feed - all major news outlets and personalities post to Twitter first these days.

Who brought up Bush? In general, I've noticed that the people who bring up Bush the most these days are the right, in an effort to preempt people on the left. Personally, I'm over Bush, I'm focused on how things are now. I was specifically referring to this:

My question wasn't whether it's fast and everywhere, it was about accuracy. Just because something is widespread and quick to the punch, doesn't mean it's accurate. The first hours of the 9/11 attacks are a perfect example.
I'll start trusting Twitter for my news as soon as people stop being able to say whatever they want, no matter how false it may be. Not saying what you posted was false, speaking of Twitter as a whole. If I trusted Twitter's accuracy, then this past Monday was Labor Day according to one very popular source.

Most people can cite statistics either way to prove their argument. In my opinion, for most people, whether the economy is improving or not is laregly based on felt needs at that moment, which is incredibly unscientific. In other words, if they have a decent job, and their loved ones have a decent job, they think things are fine. If not, then the economy sucks. Both sides can claim things both ways and have the statistics to back their claims up (you know what Twain said about statistics, right? ), but for most, it's an experential feeling.
After a year off from working, my wife just got a job yesterday, though it is well below her salary range, and is in fact an hourly teaching job for Head Start (which neither of us had heard of before). So I guess given the fact that she is working towards her Masters, she is underemployed, and neither of us are thrilled about that. But something is certainly better than nothing, on the other hand.
I suspect there are a lot of folks in a similar boat right now.

And where exactly is Bush brought up in that post? And yes, Obama bashers. That is not a partisan statement - Obama bashers are emerging from all sides. It appears to some that people just want to trash Obama, no matter what he does. I see it all the time.

It's because he's worthless as a leader. It's not like the bashing he receives is undeserved.

man o man...this would be a long list...in no particular order...for starters
- incessant moral preening while violating most of the lecture
- HUGE assertion/action gaps (OTHERWISE KNOWN AS HYPOCRISY)
. anyone notice how the admin quietly funded 1 million in export credits for foreign...hush now...corporate jet sales?
- messianic ego
. among all the "Is" in Obama's bin laden speeches ever hear him thank the admiral (McRaven) who actually planned and orchestrated the kill?
- HUGE/unprecedented spender with your/my dollars
- runs a HIGHLY ideological Justice Department that...when not engaged in operations that kill Americans.....is highly selective in how it administers Federal justice
- most polarizing President since Richard Nixon
- least documented past of ANY President
- totally inept at moving legislation through Congress
- penchant for regulating every aspect of life
- had...ummmm....drug and alcohol issues that may have exceeded those of his predecessor
....to be continued.......week after week....after week...after week
